CHSA'S EMPLOYEE OF THE MEET
CHSA would like to recognize its employee of the 2006
Oak tree meet, Mr. Ofelio Munoz. Mr. Munoz began
employment as a hot walker and groom in 1978 for
trainer Bobby Winfield and has worked for trainers
Eddie Gregson and Gene Cleveland. For the past 28
years, Mr. Munoz has worked safely and has not
incurred any work-related injuries or accidents and
encourages his employees to attended the monthly
safety meetings and make safety a priority.
Mr. Munoz is honored with the CHSA Award of Excellence
for his safety achievements. Ofelio Munoz will be
joined in the Winner's Circle with Pete Siberell

Sonia Pishehvar and CHSA Safety Coordinator Eddie
Meza.

Given to Trainer Nick Hines and his Foremen Cesar Fuentes Quiroz and Jose H. Pacheco for most active participation from their stable employees at the Hollywood Park monthly safety meetings.

Employee of the 2006 Santa Anita Meet

CALIFORNIA HORSEMEN’S SAFETY ALLIANCE has been operating successfully for the past 4 years, bringing safety awareness to the stable employees and Jockeys through ongoing safety education, occupational illness & injury prevention programs, and safety incentives. In the event that an employee sustains an industrial injury, CHSA coordinates the immediate delivery of proper medical treatment, disability benefits and return to work programs. CHSA has recently begun to honor those employees that have a commitment to safety.
CHSA would like to recognize employee of the 2006 Santa Anita Meet. Ms. Paulina Cano began her employment as a groom in 1983, she was one of first females to enter this male dominated profession. She has worked for trainers Hal Keen, Hector Palma and since 1986 has been working for Tainer Darrel Vienna, as a groom and foreman. For the past 23 years Ms. Cano has worked safely and never sustained a work related injury or accident. Ms. Cano will be honored with the CHSA Award of Excellence for her achievements. CHSA STABLE EMPLOYEE RECOGNICION

Tuesday, December 20, 2005 Macario Salvador “Lobito” Velasquez received the Award of Excellence, in recognition of 37 years of his career as an Exercise Rider without an accident and lost time injury. Eddie Mesa, Southern California Race Track Safety Coordinator, and Sonia F. Pishehvar, CHSA Administrator, Ed Helpern, CHSA President.
HOLLYWOOD PARK December 4, 2005 DIVA’S DAY

Joanne Jones, HRT Commentator hosted Track Diva Day. Special guest speakers were Kim Sawyer, CHRB Stewart; who provided a glimpse of a day in the life of a Horse Racing Steward and featured Carla Gaines a leading Thoroughbred Trainer. The guests were given an opportunity to visit the paddock, announcer’s booth, starting gate and winner’s circle. This was a very informative event and it gave the patrons an opportunity to learn more about Horse Racing.

November 6, 2005 Oak Tree Cal Cup CHSA presents the Award of Excellence to Mr. Concepcion Rodriguez, in recognition of 32 years of service in his career as a Groom without any accidents or lost time injury. The plaque was presented in the Winner Circle during Cal Cup, present were Mr. Pete Siberell, Santa Anita Director of Community Services and Special Projects, Leading Trainer Mr. Steve Knapp, Concepcion’s present employer, Eddie Meza, Race Track Safety Coordinator and Sonia F.
